A work of fiction set in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
Jake Lowry retired from the fast paced life as a police Officer in Oakland, CA. He moved to north Idaho to enjoy his well deserved retirement. Missing the excitement of chasing and catching crooks, Jake joins the Kootenai County Sheriff's Department. As he and his partner are on patrol they hear a broadcast of the death of Ken Kunkle, son of a prominent and powerful former city councilman. Knowing that the officer assigned to the case has just graduated from the academy, Jake answers the call as cover officer. The detective assigned has spent the previous evening sampling micro-brews and is not in the best of shape. Jake steps in to assist. His work on the case gets him promoted to detective. The murder of Ken Kunkle, was brutal and well planned. Jake and his partner, Bruce David, investigate the case and learn that a similar murder has been committed in Kamloops, British Columbia. Coordination with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police finds that the murder in B.C. may also been committed by the same suspect. The case becomes very involved. The murderer is identified, but manages to escape arrest.
